emergen-c was not my friend this time

"Can you play with trains?"

The only downside of a successful playdate, is that Dane seems to forget how to play independently for the next 1-4 days. Yes, I can play with trains. But no, I cannot play with trains for 100% of the day. I still need time for other things, like visiting the restroom. I think I've heard "Can you play with trains?" at least 100 times today.

I also should be studying. I have my first exam tomorrow night. All I know is that it's 200 questions and that it's on the skin, bones, and muscles. Sounds thrilling, I'm sure!

Anyway, we had an awesome weekend. Last week was rough, as both Dane and I caught something from his pre-school, something that shot his temperature up to 102-- which NEVER happens so you know it was a shock to the system. Dane missed school both Tuesday and Thursday, I had a presentation to do in class on Tuesday night, a test to study for (tomorrow), some random knitting project that I needed to put some time into, and we had a big weekend planned. Since we were sick we called off the weekend-o-fun, only to realize on Saturday that we were feeling better (and could not bear to be cooped up in the house any longer) so we reactivated our Sunday plans, and I'm so glad!

On Sunday we drove down to Cocoa Beach to meet Susie, Keith and Jack for the day. It was long drive... that wasn't an issue, but a 45 minute Publix pitstop was an issue... the deli ladies kept insisting that our order of popcorn chicken would be "just three more minutes" for almost an hour. It was harsh! We were soooo close to the beach yet so far, with just chicken standing in our way. Finally we had the chicken in hand (which was delicious, so I guess it was worth it) and made it to the beach.

We really need to see the Raskins more often... the kids play so well together and we all get along so well... pity we don't live less than 3 hours apart! But fun beach mini-vacations are in the works. That makes us happy!

Here's to a more normal week in progress. After I take this test I need to chill....

The Raskins couldn't have said it better themselves! Yesterday was great... and we, too, have a grumpy, tired, now non-independent three year old to show for it! But it's worth it. Let's do it again soon!!
